![]() This way the M1 MacBook Air can detect the monitor, but the signal is 4K only (of course), and the connection from the M1 MacBook Air to the monitor is flaky. Obviously you could use native 5120x2160 but this is bit too much IMO. The only way I can connect to this display from the M1 MacBook is via this display’s HDMI port, using a USB3-to-HDMI adapter made by HyperDrive and an HDMI cable. The effective scaled res is still 3008x1269 (second option from the top) and I remember it was higher on Catalina. Monitor wakes up much faster when woken up from sleep. To help diagnose where the problem is, you should test to make sure that your monitor itself is not the problem. I can also enable HDR which I gota say is well handled in Big Sur's env. Previously I could run 5K only in DP 1.2. The thing now works over Display Port 1.4 in full 5K. I did a factory reset on my 34WK95U and connected it back to MacBook Pro M1. issues with LGs onscreen Control mac version Hello, I purchased an Lg monitor a while back I was initially only using it on a PC. The update process took very long, about 45 min. To my surprise it detected a firmware update! I was updated from 3.11,0,2.xx to 4.12, 16, 4.17. I connected my 34WK95U via USB-B as an upstream instead of USB-C and HDMI for video. I don't like to give up so today I set up a Windows 10 laptop and installed a LG OnScreen Control. This software does not work on Big Sur just yet. I tried with Catalina on several occasions with different LG monitors like LG 27UK850-W and LG 34WK95U there were a bunch of wired errors or the app was saying that the firmware is up to date. The software never worked on macOS though. I knew that there are firmware updates for LG monitors and one could apply these with a software called LG OnScreen Control which can be downloaded directly form lg.com. If there's anything I can try/fiddle with please let me know or an explanation to as why Windows can get the best out of this monitor and Mac OS can't.I thought I would share some of my findings and a bit of a progress I made. In my case, the firmware update did not work on the Mac, so I updated it on Windows 10 ( Windows OnScreen Control - version 5.71) For the current monitor firmware version, run OSC (OnScreen Control) and click Confirm Update to display the current version. I have tried USB-C, Displayport 1.4, and HDMI cables and they're all exactly the same.Īm I missing something here? Does Mac OS do something differently to Windows? I'm pretty disappointed with this especially at its price, my old £200 Samsung Monitor looked way better and as a Web Developer, it's important to have a high-quality display. I'm getting high resolution almost retina quality with great color.Īlso, there is no way for me to scale up anything so all my windows are too small and I have to increase the zoom in browsers to be able to see anything. OnScreen Control displays all connected LG monitor information. Now, I know I know I should be getting more from this monitor because I have boot camp with Windows 10 installed and the difference is astounding. When I connect it to my Mac, it does work and everything is fine. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but in vain. BUT I have upgraded to Monterey from Big Sur this week and LG on screen control (OSC) has stopped splitting the screen. To download the latest OnScreen Control, visit LG.COM. Hello, I have been using LG On screen control (split screen functionality) on my M1 Mac Mini + Ultrawide LG Monitor, without issues since many months. To work properly, the USB Type-C cable included. Just one cable can realise an ideal, efficient workstation. This allows for monitoring of large amounts. The resolution is 3440x1440 but my problem is everything looks a little blurry/off and the color is rather disappointing. The UltraWide QHD screen (3440x1440 resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio) is great for work. I recently purchased the LG 34WN80C-B 34" Ultrawide to use as an external display for my Macbook Pro 15" 2018 (Catalina OS) in clamshell mode.
